Guavas in Phoenix flower twice a year, in the spring and fall. The flavor of the fruit is best when daytime high temperatures are below 100 F., so the majority of the crop is at peak quality in the spring.
Newly planted guavas should be protected from afternoon sun their first summer. Guavas are hardy down to 29 degrees Fahrenheit.
