Pick-up from Nursery Lot in OCTOBER. EUREKA, a common supermarket lemon, produce abundantly year-round. Originated in California from seeds that came from Sicily in the late 1850s. They, along with Lisbons, are classified as true lemons in that they are not crossed with any other citrus varieties. Eureka produces the most fruit during the spring to summer months. Also known as "Four seasons" (Quatre Saisons) because of its ability to produce fruit and flowers together throughout the year. Eureka lemon trees grow to between 10 and 20 feet tall, with a spreading and open growth habit. They are almost thornless with sparse foliage, which makes the fruit more prone to wind and sun damage. Eureka is one of the least cold-hardy lemon varieties and can be damaged by freezing temperatures. More detail below.
