The Weeping Santa Rosa Semi-Dwarf Plum
is one of the most flavorful, aromatic Japanese plums when fully ripe. The beautiful 8-10 ft tree has a weeping growth habit with long, slender limbs that bow gracefully to the ground and are easily espaliered.

Working on edible landscape, and this sounds like such a beautiful tree. Can you tell me how much space it may need without espalier?

A:
The weeping Santa Rosa can easily have a 12 foot canopy. Pruning can keep this tree in a smaller space but this will hinder the drooping effect the tree is known for. At Two Peace in a Pod, the WSR tree is pruned/trained on the south side to allow space to walk between the trees, but given free rein in the other directions.

Used for plums, is a rooted cutting.
Grows to a large tree, immune to root-knot nematode.
Tolerates wet soils. Less sucker development than Marianna 2624. .
