Q:
does this chart work for any area I live in portland Oregon

A:
In theory it will work there. The nutrients that we sell will absolutely work there. For the chart you will ahve to adjust the timing on the doses as you are a lot cooler in Portland.

Q:
I now live at 3500 feet (Cottonwood,AZ) what adjustment if any should be made for using this schedule. I love this laminated resourse and will get one when I am in the valley the next time with my fertilzer, If it can be adjusted for my location.

GREAT QUESTION! While elevation is a valid consideration for many aspects of gardening and fruit trees including variety selection and the timing of planting, this is not the case for feeding your trees and plants. When it comes to giving nutrition and applying foliar feeding, the better consideration would be air temps (and in the winter ground temps). Our Nutrition Schedule suggests applying the spray during temps about 70-75 degrees. This is a ballpark goal, as you will adjust to morning or evening application as needed to be in or near this range. Foliar spraying is not as effective above 85 degrees but skipping nutrition altogether is not necessary.
If the weather gets too warm, switch to drench feeding. If the weather gets too cold, apply the foliar feeding in the late afternoon until the air temps drop below 60. (Below 60 the efficacy is not worth the effort). Then switch to soil drenches until the ground freezes.
Skip drenches when the ground is frozen as the benefits are not high enough at that time. Resume foliar spraying as soon as the evening temps allow - especially on the deciduous trees so they can have the boost of nutrition as they wake from their winter nap.
All in all, giving your trees the benefits of good nutrition is a lot like having good nutrition for ourselves with both short and long term results. Hope that helps!

Q:
Does his chart apply to trees planted in northwest Portland, Oregon?
Asked by:
Carol McMurdie
- 5/29/2023
A:
YES. with small adjustments which are notated on the schedule. Drench feeding is applicable to all trees. Just avoid any months if the soil is frozen. Noble Gills is best used prior to flowering to help give a good flower boost. Foliar feeding has optimal temperatures, so follow the instructions and adjust from mornings to evenings based on your area's temperatures. The only change might be on the granular fertilization timing, and we recommend a LOCAL and ORGANIC granular fertilizer, so follow the instructions on the package for that product.
