Q: Does this have filters that need to be replaced? If so, how often?

Asked by: s. roberts - 6/13/2021
A: This Hose Ready Filter comes with an internal cartridge that should be replaced on a regular basis. The frequency depends on the amount of chlorine in your water and the amount of water you use. For easy scheduling you can predict that they will need to be replaced annually. However, for more accurate readings you can use a simple pool test kit strip to see if there is chlorine present and replace the internal filter when the strips start to show chlorine readings. Search "Replacement" on our store to find the cartridges.

Q: Up to how many gallons can unit filter for regular municipal water

Asked by: MARY E DELAY - 4/4/2021
A: There is no specific measure of gallons per cartridge as different municipalities have differing levels of chlorine, this amount can even change season to season. The frequency of cartridge change depends on the amount of chlorine in your water and the amount of water you use. For easy scheduling you can predict that they will need to be replaced annually. However, for more accurate readings you can use a simple pool test kit strip to see if there is chlorine present and replace the internal filter when the strips start to show chlorine readings. Search "Replacement" on our store to find the cartridges.

Q: My city uses chloramine instead of chlorine in the water supply, does this filter work for chloramine as well?

Asked by: Matthew Mesh - 5/31/2023
A: Yuck! Chloramines can stay in the water for much longer than chlorine. Most filters do not effectively remove Chloramine. In order to remove chloramine you need a catalytic carbon and a KDF-85 filter. This combination is most often found in under the sink systems or whole house systems. That is not what this filter is. Good luck!

Q: Can I order the refill cartridge for the chlorine filter? After 2 weeks of use my water flow dropped drastically to the point I am unable to water the garden with it installed.

Asked by: Larry - 6/1/2024
A: Larry, wow, after only two weeks of use, it's clogged up? That tells me that you need to pre-filter your water for sediment. This is a chlorine filter that removes chlorine lead and the like. yes you can order a cartridge replacement, but I would seriously think about pre-filtering your water.
